2nd Courts Fiji Limited Open
The 2nd Courts Fiji Limited Open was held on Sunday 11 September 2011 at the Fiji School of Medicine (Pacifica Campus) in Extension Street, Suva. The Fiji Chess Federation saw a huge number of participants turn up to make it one of the best events of the year. Veteran Dr Neel Arora thwarted the hopes of Chessmasters Manoj Kumar and Calvin Prasad with a brilliant display of controlled gameplay. While all 3 players were tied at 4 points at the end of 5 rounds, a tie-break saw Dr Neel Arora as the winner and Calvin Prasad at 2nd place. Chessmaster Manoj Kumar finished 3rd and young Rajiv Raj secured the 4th place with 3 points.
Courts Fiji mentioned that chess was a mental sport that trained us to solve real life problems.
In the B category, the Terubea siblings continued with their dominant performance with Kiez Terubea of Nausori topping the field with an unbeaten score of 4 points followed by Sisaro Cirikanamoli and Pramisesh Premadish of MGM High School both with four points.

"Ronald Terubea, reigning secondary schools champion and recent winner of the FMF U20 Chess Open, was promoted to play in the elite group and recorded a win over senior player Goru Arvind and a well deserved draw with Juan Clomera."
"Sister Terubea was the best female player with three points while younger brother Brian was the best secondary school player also with three points."
Ken Fong of Yat Sen was the winner of the primary division with classmate Kevin Lee placed second. Meanwhile, the federation will conduct regular Sunday chess clinics for free at the Pasifika Campus starting this Sunday.
